感情支援対話における単一ターン内での複数支援戦略のモデリング

要旨

感情支援対話（ESC）は、共感的で支援的な対話を生成することで、苦悩を経験している個人を支援することを目的としています。従来の研究では、各支援者の発話が単一の戦略に対応すると通常想定されてきましたが、現実世界の支援的コミュニケーションでは、単一の発話内に複数の戦略が含まれることが頻繁にあります。本論文では、ESCタスクを、各発話が1つ以上の「戦略-応答」ペアを含み得る多戦略発話生成として再定義します。私たちは2つの生成手法を提案します：すべての戦略-応答ペアを単一のデコードステップで予測する「All-in-One」と、戦略-応答ペアを完了まで反復的に生成する「One-by-One」です。両手法は、強化学習による認知的推論でさらに強化され、戦略選択と応答構成を改善します。ESConvデータセットを用いて、発話レベルと対話レベルの両方の設定でモデルを評価します。実験結果は、私たちの手法が多戦略発話を効果的にモデル化し、支援の質と対話の成功度を向上させることを示しています。私たちの知る限り、本研究は単一発話内での複数支援戦略の使用が感情支援対話において実行可能であり有益であるという、初めての体系的な実証的証拠を提供します。すべてのコードとデータはhttps://github.com/aliyun/qwen-dianjin で公開予定です。

Emotional Support Conversation (ESC) aims to assist individuals experiencing distress by generating empathetic and supportive dialogue. While prior work typically assumes that each supporter turn corresponds to a single strategy, real-world supportive communication often involves multiple strategies within a single utterance. In this paper, we revisit the ESC task by formulating it as multi-strategy utterance generation, where each utterance may contain one or more strategy-response pairs. We propose two generation methods: All-in-One, which predicts all strategy-response pairs in a single decoding step, and One-by-One, which iteratively generates strategy-response pairs until completion. Both methods are further enhanced with cognitive reasoning guided by reinforcement learning to improve strategy selection and response composition. We evaluate our models on the ESConv dataset under both utterance-level and dialogue-level settings. Experimental results show that our methods effectively model multi-strategy utterances and lead to improved supportive quality and dialogue success. To our knowledge, this work provides the first systematic empirical evidence that allowing multiple support strategies within a single utterance is both feasible and beneficial for emotional support conversations.
